Introduction to the Anosov-Katok method

Abstract

In an upcoming paper together with Prof. Tobias Jäger we utilise the Anosov-Katok method to construct novel examples of dynamical systems with special properties.
In this talk this underlying method - due to Anosov and Katok -, which is well known within the dynamical systems community, will be discussed.
The trick at its core allows to obtain exotic diffeomorphisms with prescribed properties on smooth manifolds (we will focus on tori) as a limit of a sequence of diffeomorphisms conjugate to rational rotations.
